@Manichiral

Whenever I come across something I share it by writing in my blog. I am a scientist by profession and not a writer. Even if 10 people read my blog post thats enough for me. I dont write for fame, but I do it for my satisfaction.

Hope you understand

Tamil cinema is bothering you a lot. I am afraid you are giving too much importance to T C. You should take it easy.

IMHO, Any independent person also dependent on others! Or not???

That's why you and I got out of India. You would have been a big failure there or not? Why did not you stay there if environment is not an issue at all??

I can go on like that..

Varun, whatever I wrote is from her talk. I believe this talk is intended for
Those who want to start a business, publish book/ papers or pursues interesting research.
And she motivates those people
with how to kill dreams.. It's given in a negative sense.

Point 1: I beleive we all refer to TC, because we grew up watching them. So it's coming often and bothering me.

Everyone goes to grave independently, so if u leap into something and it's your product, you should take the responsibility..
If u caused the problem u better solve it. That's probably what she
Means

I heard stories about Rockefeller, some one asked him why he is still working even though he is well established. And he referred back saying that.. We are traveling in a jet.. What happens if it stops feeling that it attained a great height.. Same thing will happen to us if we stop working" this came to my mind when I heard this point from
Her

Fourth point is again given in negative sense.. We all blame others for our failures.. If we fail in meeting deadlines, not publishing, not keeping well
Etc.. whrn u start to take the blame to yourself, that itself
Shows that u have grown up and matured

I came out of India because of lack of opportunity in Biotech field especially for women..
But I see some of my grad school
Friends going back and settling down there, which I would never do..

First of all thanks for the understanding. You took my counter argument in the correct sense I believe.

Let me get back to the point 3 again.

I had a colleague, she said he dad was working for exxon or something and had lots of patents and made tons of money. After a while he did not like that, he decided to quite and go, teach in a small college with much lower salary, and he was happy.

David Letterman quit when he realized that it is time for youngsters.

There is nothing wrong in thinking that it is about time to retire. Life is about you and how you feel and what you feel and what make you comfortable. You dont live for making others think that you are great. That's mere stupidity.

You are just a player. You live and die. The world will revolve even if you die. The earth has been living thousands of billions of years according to evolution. Long before Rama and Krishna and Jesus were born! You are just a player even if you had won a Nobel prize. You are just a player.

The reason I am saying this is.. In India some Professors never want to retire. They cant think that the world will do fine without them too. May v=be world will become a better place after they are gone! Once they get older they use all their power to use young people to get whatever they want by abusing the power they have. This has been happening in scientific community. Instead if they retire, some young people can do better with some new ideas. So, getting satisfaction with what we achieved is a good thing for the community and for the youngsters. We dont have to think the sun wont rise if we die. That's a bad thought!

Point 4:

You are saying many people go back and do well there but you dont want to go back because of lack of opportunities for biotech and also because you are a woman?

Fine, So, Does it mean, "the point 4, does not work out for you?" I am in the same boat as you are. It does not work for me either. So, environment plays a role for at least some of us. So, point 4 is good only for some people who can adjust no matter what environment they are in and try do something with whatever they have.

-------------------

***I heard stories about Rockefeller, some one asked him why he is still working even though he is well established. And he referred back saying that.. We are traveling in a jet.. What happens if it stops feeling that it attained a great height.. Same thing will happen to us if we stop working" this came to my mind when I heard this point from
Her ***

The fact is he got addicted to work. Lots of people do. He might not do the best science at that age. Because of his addiction, he justifies what he does by this "jet story"! That's all!

I think happiness is a state of mind and everyone is unto himself or hersel is almost happy in their "micro environment" be living in a kudisai or a bangalo or in a village or in suburb of a metropolis!
